The Poplar Report (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates thepoplarreport.com (the “Site”) and related newsletters.
This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your choices. Using the Site or signing up for the newsletter means you agree to this policy.

1. Who we are
The Poplar Report is a news and preparedness publishing project operated by Steve Poplar. We publish news links, preparedness content, Amazon deal posts, YouTube links, and email newsletters.
2. Information we collect
You give us: email address (and any name or preferences on newsletter signup); messages you send through our Contact form or by email.
Collected automatically: IP address, browser/device type, approximate location, pages viewed, referring URL, and date/time; cookies and similar technologies for site operation, security, analytics, and affiliate tracking where used.
From third parties: if you click affiliate links or open YouTube/Google pages, those companies may collect data under their own policies.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
3. How we use it
We use information to: send the newsletter(s) you signed up for; respond to Contact form messages and tips; operate, secure, and improve the Site; measure what content and deals people find useful (in aggregate where possible); and comply with law and protect our rights and users.
We do not sell your email list. We do not rent or trade your personal contact information to unrelated third parties for their own marketing.
4. Newsletter (Brevo)
Our email newsletters are sent using Brevo (formerly Sendinblue). When you subscribe, your email (and any fields you provide) is stored in Brevo on our behalf so we can send the mail you asked for.
Each marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email info@thepoplarreport.com to opt out. After you unsubscribe, we may keep your address on a suppression list so we do not email you again by mistake.

5. Third parties and links
Website hosting — WordPress.com / Automattic. The Site is hosted on WordPress.com. Automattic may process technical and visitor data as described in their privacy materials: https://automattic.com/privacy/
Amazon Associates (affiliate links). Some product links on the Site (especially on Deals) are Amazon Associates affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you click those links and buy something, Amazon may use cookies and similar tools to attribute the sale and pay a commission. Amazon’s use of data is governed by Amazon’s privacy notice. We only receive aggregated/commission reporting, not your full Amazon account details.
YouTube / Google. We link to YouTube videos (including The Poplar Report and other channels). If you visit YouTube or Google, their policies apply.
Other outbound links. News headlines link to third-party publishers. Their sites have their own privacy practices; we do not control them.
URL shorteners / tracking links. We may use shortened or tracked links (for example TinyURL, Bitly, or similar, and UTM parameters) to understand which CTAs and posts drive traffic. Those providers may log clicks under their own policies.
Contact form. Messages submitted through the Contact form are processed by WordPress.com / Automattic form tools and delivered to our business inbox. Do not put sensitive personal data (passwords, payment numbers) in the form.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, and local storage to keep the Site working (security, load balancing, preferences); understand traffic and popular pages; and support affiliate attribution (for example, Amazon). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies may break some site features or affiliate attribution.
7. How long we keep information
Newsletter subscribers: while you remain subscribed, and afterward on a suppression list as needed to honor opt-outs.
Contact form / tips: as long as reasonably needed to respond and operate the project, unless you ask us to delete them and we are not required to keep them by law.
Server / analytics logs: typically for a limited period set by the hosting or analytics provider.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have rights to access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, and opt out of marketing emails (always available via unsubscribe).
To make a request, email info@thepoplarreport.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We may need to verify your identity before responding.
9. California notice (CCPA/CPRA summary)
If you are a California resident, in the last 12 months we may have collected categories such as: identifiers (email, IP), internet activity (page views, clicks), and commercial information related to affiliate clicks. We collect this from you, your device, and service providers, for the purposes above. We do not sell personal information for money. Some cookie/affiliate activity may be considered “sharing” for advertising measurement under California law; you can limit cookies in your browser and contact us for requests.
10. Security
We use reputable providers (WordPress.com, Brevo, Amazon) and reasonable administrative safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
11. International visitors
The Site is aimed mainly at a U.S. audience but may be visited from other countries. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
